Robinsons Dumaguete Expansion Is Now Open: What's New in 2026

Robinsons Dumaguete has entered a new chapter. After months of construction and anticipation, the mall officially opened its major expansion on September 28, 2026, giving Dumaguete a much bigger shopping, dining and entertainment destination.

The project adds four floors and more than 17,000 square meters of gross leasable area to Robinsons Dumaguete. What was once largely familiar to local shoppers now has a noticeably larger footprint, with new businesses and entertainment spaces adding more reasons for people to spend time at the mall.

A Much Bigger Robinsons Dumaguete

The expansion has been one of the more visible developments around Dumaguete's commercial landscape in 2026. Robinsons Land previously identified the project as part of its 2026 mall expansion program, with the Dumaguete development planned as a four-floor addition covering more than 17,000 square meters of gross leasable area.

The timing is significant for a city that continues to serve students, residents, tourists and businesses from different parts of Negros Oriental. Robinsons Dumaguete is also part of a larger mixed-use property that includes Cybergate Dumaguete and Go Hotels, giving the area a combination of retail, office and hospitality activity.

New Stores Are Changing the Mall

One of the biggest reasons the expansion has attracted attention is the number of new stores expected across the additional space. The new wing has brought a mixture of fashion, food, beauty, technology and lifestyle businesses, giving shoppers more choices without having to leave the city.

Among the businesses associated with the new expansion are Sports Direct, Toys R Us, Beyond the Box, National Book Store, Classic Savory, Timezone, Dairy Queen, Mesa and other new or relocated establishments.

Not every tenant necessarily opened at exactly the same time, but the growing tenant lineup gives an idea of how different the expanded mall is intended to feel compared with the older layout.

More Places to Eat and Hang Out

Food is also becoming a bigger part of the Robinsons Dumaguete experience. New restaurants, cafés and dessert concepts give shoppers more options for quick meals, family dining or simply meeting friends after work or school.

For Dumaguete, this is more than simply having additional retail space. The city has a strong café and restaurant culture, and a larger mall gives both established and new businesses another place to reach customers.

Entertainment Has a Bigger Role

The expansion also places more attention on entertainment. Timezone and other leisure-oriented businesses give families and younger shoppers more activities to do inside the mall beyond traditional shopping.

Robinsons Dumaguete has also introduced VIP Cinema facilities, adding another entertainment option for moviegoers in the city. This helps turn the mall into a place where people can spend several hours rather than simply visit for a specific purchase.

The Opening Has Already Brought More Activity

The official opening on September 28 was followed by a week-long celebration scheduled to continue until October 4. The festivities include cultural performances, concerts, family activities and celebrity appearances.

That opening schedule gives the expansion an unusually busy introduction. Instead of quietly opening individual stores over time, the new spaces are being introduced as part of a larger event for shoppers and visitors.

What the Expansion Could Mean for Dumaguete

A larger Robinsons Dumaguete also adds another layer to the city's changing commercial landscape. Dumaguete has grown well beyond its traditional image as a university and tourism city, with more offices, businesses, restaurants and services developing around the urban area.

The mall expansion is part of that broader change. More commercial space means more room for retailers and food businesses, while the surrounding Robinsons development also connects shopping with offices and accommodation.

A New Hangout for Locals and Visitors

For people who already live in Dumaguete, the most noticeable difference may simply be having more places to go. A shopping trip can now include a meal, coffee, entertainment, a movie or an afternoon browsing through new stores.

For visitors, meanwhile, the expanded mall gives another convenient stop in the city. It is particularly useful on rainy days or when travelers want a break from outdoor activities around Dumaguete and nearby destinations.

Robinsons Dumaguete Is Entering a New Phase

The September 28 opening marks a major milestone, but the expansion is part of a larger development story. Robinsons Land has also identified Cybergate Dumaguete as part of its regional office expansion, adding another component to the mixed-use area.

For Dumaguete, that combination could make the Robinsons property increasingly important as a place where people shop, eat, work, stay and spend their free time.

The old Robinsons Dumaguete is still there, but the expanded version feels like something considerably bigger. With new stores, restaurants, entertainment and more space now being introduced, the mall is becoming another reflection of how quickly Dumaguete's commercial scene is changing.
