Campuestohan 2026: Fees, Shuttle and the Giant Rooster

Ren Calago0

The giant rooster gets people to Campuestohan, but the bill decides how the day goes. Entrance to Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, is ₱250 per person, and that covers the pools and the children's playground. The zip line, rope course and most of the rides cost extra. A resort shuttle runs up from Bacolod for ₱100 each way, and the trip takes about an hour.

That is the short answer. The longer one depends on who you are bringing, whether you want a room inside the rooster, and how much of the day you want to spend waiting for rides. This guide walks through the real costs, the shuttle times, what the rooster hotel is like for a day visitor, and a way to fold the trip into a fuller Talisay day.

One quick search tip before anything else. Cebu has its own Talisay City, so when you book a car or check a map, make sure it says Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental. The resort sits in Sitio Campuestohan, up in the hills above Bacolod, and the drive goes through the Granada side of the city.

What Campuestohan Is, and Who It Suits

Campuestohan started as a retirement project. Ricardo Tan, known locally as Cano Gwapo, bought the hillside property in 2010, and the resort had its grand launch in May 2014. It has kept growing since then: a dinosaur park in 2017 and the rooster hotel in 2024, with pools, teepee huts, a windmill and plenty of oversized figures in between.

It is a theme park in the mountains rather than a quiet nature escape. Children tend to love it. Adults who came for forest trails and silence may find it loud and busy, especially on weekends. If that is what you are after, Bacolod's other highland option, Mambukal Resort, leans toward hot springs, waterfalls and old trees.

Campuestohan Entrance Fee and Ride Prices for 2026

Here is how the costs stack up, based on the resort's current price list:

  • Entrance: ₱250 per person, including the swimming pools and the children's playground. Kids aged 2 and below enter free; from age 3 they pay the full rate.
  • ₱200 each: zip line, rope course and the cable hamster wheel.
  • ₱100: 15 minutes of horseback riding, or one way on the sky bicycle.
  • ₱65: the Viking ride.
  • ₱35: the walking dinosaur, or the basketball shootout.

Rides are paid on site, and you do not need to book them ahead. A child who wants the zip line, the hamster wheel and a horse ride adds ₱500 to the ₱250 entrance, so set a ride budget per person before you arrive. It saves a lot of negotiating at each ticket booth.

The three pools are the Rainbow Slide Pool, the Lagoon Pool and the Wave Pool. Pack swimwear, a towel and a dry change of clothes, because the ride back down is long in wet shorts.

Renting a cottage for the day

For a family group, a day cottage gives you a base for bags and food. The umbrella hut fits 10 people for ₱600, the small cottage fits 15 for ₱800, and the big cottage fits 20 for ₱1,500. Larger groups can rent a gazebo for 30 or 40 guests at ₱4,000 or ₱5,000. Cottage rent does not include entrance, so each guest still pays the ₱250.

Is the Rooster Hotel Worth It?

The rooster is the reason Campuestohan went viral. Guinness World Records lists it as the largest building in the shape of a chicken, at 34.931 metres, or about 114 feet. It was named Manok ni Cano Gwapo after its creator, and the shape is a nod to the gamefowl industry that runs deep in Negros Occidental.

It is also a working hotel with 15 air-conditioned rooms. A Rooster Room for four costs ₱4,500 a night and one for seven costs ₱7,000. Both rates include entrance and breakfast for that number of guests. That makes it one of the better-value rooms in the resort for a family of four: the entrance alone would be ₱1,000.

Day visitors should treat it as a landmark to photograph rather than a building to tour. Guest corridors and rooms are for people who booked them. If sleeping inside the rooster is the whole point of the trip, reserve early and ask the resort which floor and view your room gets.

Other overnight options start at ₱3,000 for a non-aircon log cabin for three and go up through teepee huts, dino rooms and the Raphaella suites. Check-in is from 2 PM and check-out is by noon. All room rates include VAT and can change without notice, so use the booking page or call for your exact dates.

Getting There: The Shuttle From Bacolod

The resort runs its own shuttle for ₱100 per person each way. It picks up and drops off on Circumferential Road in Bacolod, between Motortrade East and KFC East, near Lopue's East.

  • Weekdays: up at 9 AM and 2 PM; down at 1 PM and 5 PM.
  • Weekends and holidays: up at 8 AM, 10 AM, 12 NN and 4 PM; down at 9 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM and 5 PM.

The 5 PM trip is the last one down. Miss it and you are hunting for a ride off a mountain at dusk, so keep an eye on the clock. The schedule has changed before, so text or call the shuttle line at 0939-507-7288 the day before your trip.

Driving takes about an hour from Bacolod via the Granada route. A hired car or Grab costs more than the shuttle but lets you leave whenever you like, which matters if you plan a second stop.

A Full Talisay Day: Rooster in the Morning, Ruins at Sunset

Campuestohan and The Ruins are both in Talisay City, and they suit different hours. The resort is best early, before the midday heat and the weekend crowds build. The Ruins, the shell of a sugar baron's mansion on the lowland side of the city, looks best in late-afternoon light.

On a weekday, ride the 9 AM shuttle up, spend the morning on the pools and rides, and catch the 1 PM shuttle down. That leaves the afternoon free for The Ruins in Talisay, with dinner back in Bacolod afterward. On weekends, the 8 AM and 1 PM trips give you the same shape with an extra hour on the hill.

Weather, Crowds and the Kanlaon Question

The resort sits in the highlands, so the air is usually fresher than in central Bacolod. The sun is still strong at midday, though, and rain can roll in quickly in the afternoon, especially from June to November. Bring sunscreen, a light jacket and something waterproof for your phone.

Weekends and holidays bring families, groups and longer lines at the rides, and the shuttle adds extra trips to match. A weekday visit is calmer and the photos come out with fewer strangers in them.

Visitors also ask about Kanlaon Volcano, which erupted again in July 2026. The 4-kilometre permanent danger zone around the crater stays off-limits, and ashfall depends on the wind on the day. Check the latest PHIVOLCS bulletin before you go, and read our guide on whether it is safe to visit Canlaon for what each alert level means. If ash is falling around Bacolod, reschedule; the rides and pools will still be there next week.

Before You Go

Bring cash for rides and snacks, swimwear for everyone, and a budget per child. Aim for an early shuttle, and save the 5 PM trip for emergencies only. For a room inside the rooster, book ahead and confirm what the rate includes.

Campuestohan does not pretend to be wilderness. It is a big, colourful hillside playground with a 114-foot chicken in the middle, and with the right expectations and a little planning, it makes a good family day out in Negros Occidental.
